BABBLING BROOKE BLOG September 13, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: Okay...when I think of HORROR, I think of HART FISHER!!!
HORROR CREATOR HART D. FISHER MEETS THE VERMINATORS SEPTEMBER 13TH ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL!
DISCOVERY CHANNELS’ ELITE TEAM OF PESTBUSTERS CONFRONTS THE HORROR DIRECTORS’ WORST FEAR- RATS!
LOS ANGELES, CA- Horror show host and The Garbage Man writer/director, Hart D. Fisher, went head to head with his worst fear, fighting a rat & black widow spider infestation in his Los Angeles home, and had to call in the cavalry- The Discovery Channel’s elite group of pestbusters, The Verminators. When Gary gets the call from the horror film director with a fear of rats, he discovers the real scare is the threat the rodents pose to the health of his wife, who is recovering from cervical cancer.
“We had rats in the trees, in our attic, it was driving me nuts, it was driving my wife nuts, and when things start to bother my wife, the kid gloves come off.” said American Horrors host, Hart D. Fisher "I may live and breath horror movies, but when you find a black widow spider crawling across your big toe in the bath tub and you’ve got rats staring at you through the window, it’s time to call in the professionals. The guys from Isotech, they really kicked ass on these rats & spiders.”
The Verminators “Lights! Camera! Vermin!” featuring the adventures at Mr. Fisher’s home will air this Sunday, September 13th at 9am on The Discovery Channel. Check your local listings for airdates and re-runs. You will not want to miss the Black Widow re-enactments with Mr. Fisher in a tub full of bubble bath and venom!
“They brought over a bug wrangler and a couple BOXES of black widows. It was not easy holding still while they dangled the biggest Black Widow I’ve ever seen over my big toe with crazy glue and piano wire.” Added Mr. Fisher. “It took a lot of self control to just sit there with that big bug an inch away from my toe hanging by next to nothing.”
American Horrors began as a 2 hour television show syndicated through out Europe and Scandinavia by The Global Broadcasting Company, and in partnership with Indie Pictures has grown to be a major emerging distributor of Feature horror films, forging innovative partnerships with metal record powerhouses Nuclear Blast Records and Century Media. Starting in June 2009 American Horrors will release one feature film a month, including a new directors cut of Nobody Loves Alice, and will also be packaging the show as a 10 DVD collectors box set of the show’s first season for release in October.
Mr. Fisher is seeking out more indie filmmakers, feature films, shorts and horror themed music videos to be part of the American Horrors brand that reaches into tens of millions of households across countries including France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Austria via Broadcast television, and now in America via DVD, VOD and Internet downloads. As the number of survivors decreases, they begin to believe that the killer might be one of the group.

This killer thriller features a star-studded cast including Gabrielle Anwar (“Burn Notice”), William Forsythe (The Devil’s Rejects, Rob Zombie’s Halloween), Emmy Award® nominee Billy Dee Williams (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi), Scream Queen Brooke Lewis (The Sinatra Club), Tony Todd (Candyman, “24”), Saturn Award® winner Margaret Colin (“Gossip Girl,” Independence Day), Tony Award® winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Rent, “Medium”), Frank Grillo (“Prison Break,” “The Shield”) and two-time Academy Award® nominee, nine-time Emmy Award® nominee and Golden Globe Award® winner Charles Durning (Dog Day Afternoon, Tootsie). Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: There is a special group of horror peeps who I am privileged to have in my horror world. They always support me and I believe in giving back, so a scary CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK goes out to this group ("bites" to those I personally deal with...;) including, Bryan Roberts, Trevor Wright, Marv Blauvelt and Megan Sacco!

The Green Monster Screening In Clinton MA!

The time has finally come for the first official screening of The Green Monster at The Historic Strand Theatre in Clinton MA on August 15, 2009.

HOLLYWOOD: Outside of our regular horror festivals and conventions, iMURDERS played last Saturday night at the ACTION ON FILM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in Pasadena, CA. The posse came out and we had a blast! It is always fun to watch one of your films in a real movie theater with real popcorn ;) Check out the fest:

I had an even better time grabbing a bite after the screening with my amazing composer and friend Harry Manfredini! :)
(Harry, no more soft pretzels! My booty can't get any bigger...camera adds 10-15 lbs.!!! ;)

HIGH DRAMA: Bringin' "personal" Brooke stuff back! It has been 2 months and I am still recovering from my awful viral lung infection that truly stopped me in my vampy lil tracks! I've been taking it easy and feeling a bit better day by day. I cannot thank all of my friends and fans enough for all your emails, cards, love and support. I have done some serious soul-searching during this mess and have really gotten clear on what is important in life and what I want to create for my future. It is all about love, respect and upholding each other's highest good! It is about being around people and projects that make you a "better" person...and, we make them "better" in return! It is about giving people the "space" to be who they are supposed to be...even when it is difficult! It's about doing the best we can in each moment and not beating ourselves up when we aren't "perfect". It is about taking time out for ourselves and time to breathe! Funny that I would work myself to the bone and not come up for "air" trying to be "perfect" and get a viral lung infection, so I couldn't breathe for 2 months...interesting, huh? BE TRUE...TAKE CARE OF YOU...SUCCESS WILL FOLLOW!!!

Love & Horror,
XO Brooke Lewis

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG July 19, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: I was recently contacted by a dear friend and business associate, Marv Blauvelt, about the film COME. Here's what he had to say:
"When my friends, Arthur Cullipher and Kirk Chastain (from CLOCKWERK Pictures) gave me the script for COME and offered me the lead, I immediately said yes....the script is very "Lovecraftion", (and I LOVE H.P. Lovecraft)...it is by far the creepiest project I have been attached to, and some of the visual imagery that Arthur and Kirk have captured is VERY Dark and Haunting....and the gore scenes are not for the squeamish. Filming is nearly complete, and from what I have been told, the folks at Clockwerk Pictures plan to finish post by the end of August and start submitting to festivals as soon as possible."
Check out the press release:
Clockwerk Pictures Presents

COME

A surgical fetish doctor, obsessed with cutting off the vulvas of women and sewing them on their faces, meets his fate through the conspiratorial workings of a brothel proprietor, a prostitute and the Goddess of a strange religion.

Come is pure surreal, occult horror, featuring everything from the molestation of a tentacled, six breasted goddess in a jar to lust, murder, idolatry, revenge and salvation.

Marv Blauvelt, (Sculpture) plays Dr. Conduit, a man drawn into the worship of monsters and led to shocking acts of depravity, vying for the favor of a dark mother goddess.

Dave Pruett as Mr. Maker, proprietor of the brothel that has supplied the doctor's past two victims. A sinister individual with a wooden hand who will lead the good doctor to his fate and salvation by offering him a mysterious opportunity.

Emily Johnson as Siren, a seductive and treacherous prostitute employed by Mr. Maker serving as a mocking ghost of the doctors past.

Also starring
Kara Erdel and Leya Taylor as the doctor's previous victims, now "zombified" with their vulvas crudely stitched on their faces.
Lydia Comer and Shane Beasley as other weird denizens of the dark brothel.

Written and directed by Kirk Chastain and Arthur Cullipher (The Adipocere Child)

COMING THIS FALL!

HOLLYWOOD: You guys all know how much I have been supporting the action film BREAK. The film stars Michael Madsen, James Russo and the late David Carradine and I play The Bitch At The Bar in the opening scene! I am passing on a quote from my wonderful director, Marc Clebanoff, in hopes that you will rent the DVD!
"I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported me and my film BREAK along the long journey that's finally brought me to this week: the DVD release.

I've spent (and some of you have as well) over 2 years working to make sure BREAK is a success. We've garnered 5 awards, done numerous promotional & festival screenings & showed theatrically in 4 major US cities. We've been interviewed and highlighted by everyone from ET to the New York Post. At the end of the day, however, the success of a small independent film is completely based on the support of our friends, family, cast, crew and fans who support the film, talk it up & help us to fuel the buzz.

Below I've shared some links with you that you may or may not have already seen. Today my hope is that everyone helps me to make this film successful by doing one of the following:

All of these actions contribute significantly to the success of BREAK and bring me one step closer to being able to produce my next project (and employ many of you again).

Thank you all for your time and support. It means more than you know...

Best Regards,

Marc Clebanoff"

HIGH DRAMA: Had to share this one, as "drama" follows me from Hollywood to Buffalo!!! :) So, I hit Buffalo last week to play the role of Nicole in SLIME CITY MASSACRE. I flew across country all day and was totally wiped out and ready to hit the sheets at my hotel. I was still on West Coast time, so I had a tough time falling asleep. I watched TV for hours and started to freak out, as I had to be up at 7am to get to set. I finally zonked out at 3am and was sleeping like a baby when the fire alarms start raging like crazy and the hotel gets evacuated! I thought I was having a nightmare, as it was 5am and I had to be up at 6am to get ready to shoot. The hotel guests sat outside for an hour before we were allowed back into our rooms. It turned out that a toaster oven had caught on fire in the kitchen...just my luck! :)
LOTS more SLIME CITY MASSACRE gossip to come...

XO Brooke Lewis

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: I have met a lot of "horrifically" wonderful peeps in my many years of working in entertainment! All my love, support and "bites" to the SCULPTURE posse!

Speaking of the horror posse, I want to share a special announcement from Megan Sacco:
CUTZ – THE MOVIE
“ Sometimes nightmares are real”

A short film written and directed by Megan Sacco – Lady Haunter Inc. & Rob Roy- Wit’s End Entertainment
Story by Megan Sacco

Cutz is not for the faint at heart. It is a psychological thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat right from the very beginning. A group of kids enter a psych unit with various issues. Unbeknownst to them they have a connection that soon reveals itself. After years of repression they all begin to remember how they got to where they are today: drug addicted, eating disorders, cutting. Once the “secret” reveals itself, mayhem ensues.
Filming is set to start in August. Still casting some of the major roles.
This will be Megan’s Directorial debut.

You know how I feel about powerful women, so kick some DIRECTING ass, Megan!

HOLLYWOOD: THE BOLLYWOOD BOYS: The old saying that "work begets work" really seems to hold true! I recently wrapped a film called THE SINATRA CLUB and met a wonderful guy who was working on production, James L. Bills. We totally bonded, as he shares a similar attitude and work ethic to mine! Through producer Crystal Wortman, I was brought into the movie DOUBLE TAP and low and behold...the DP was James L. Bills! (See where this is going? ;) James got to see my work in 2 back to back flicks and soon contacted me about 2 upcoming projects he is directing! We have recently done a deal to attach me to his hilarious comedy THE BOLLYWOOD BOYS. I am very excited and get to act in the film with the 2 leads...David Faustino and Corin Nemec (For all you 80's fans like me...BUD BUNDY and PARKER LEWIS!!!) Check out a quote from James:

""The Bollywood Boys" came from an idea that Producer Al Gomez (writer of the comedy classic "Joy Sticks") had 3 years ago. He let me run with that idea and by summer of 2008 I had completed the script. The roles of Jerry and Tom (our heroes) were written specifically for David Faustino & Corin Nemec (STAR-VING) who in 2009, along with their business partner Todd Bringewatt teamed with our production team making "The Bollywood Boys" an AGP / FNB production.

I worked on a TV pilot with Nan Swartz, an Emmy winning producer who had created several shows for MTV in New York and brought her and her partner Andrew Greenbury (There's Something about Mary) on board as part of AGP.

Given the comedic needs of our project I have approached some very talented actors to join "The Bollywod Boys". Currently I am in discussions with Hilliary Barbour (The Bold and the Beautiful) , Camden Toy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) , Brooke Lewis (The Sinatra Club) and the very sexy girl from our poster Lauren Jacobs.

"The Bollywood Boys" was inspired by my love for classic movie comedies, writers such as Mel Brooks, Harold Ramis & others along with charismatic actors that I grew up idolizing."

HIGH DRAMA: I know each week, I keep this section open to gossip, premieres, conventions, nights on the town, friends and personal stuff, but this week I want to get really personal. Those who know me know that I am like a powerful, lil energizer bunny who "keeps going and going" and doesn't stop...and, this is often true! Well, recently, I was stopped and my batteries died!!! Since the beginning of 09, I have been blessed with back to back projects, tons of public appearances, traveling to movie premieres and horror conventions all over the country and about 3 friend's weddings! A typical day of mine begins at 5:30 AM and ends around midnight. I was going for several months on about 4 hours sleep a night and spread really thin. I thought I could go at this pace forever and all the films, red carpets, money and "accomplishments" were worth it! Well, I crashed and burned on my last film and ended up with a severe viral lung infection that I am still fighting for over a month! I have been in/out of the hospital, on tons of steroids, meds and breathing machines, haven't been able to talk or breathe, took off work for 2 weeks and lost a film, have spent a fortune on doctor bills, herbs and expenses, haven't been able to work out and feel like someone beat the shit outta me! Why am I sharing this with you?...Not for sympathy, but to share my experience, lessons and realizations! As artists, we all work so hard to make our dreams and goals come true...we sacrifice things from romantic relationships to missing certain special moments with family and friends to vacations to sometimes even inner PEACE and HAPPINESS! We think if we "keep pounding the pavement" or take that next meeting or make that personal appearance, something HUGE will happen, so "I can't stop now"!!! Well, take it from a lil lady who was just "stopped", it doesn't matter what "level" we are at in our career or what "budget" films we are doing, it is about finding balance, love and INNER PEACE! It's about saying "NO" sometimes and being okay with it...and not "fearing" that more won't come! I have been suffering so for the past month, but believe that God and the Universe kicked my ass, so I would STOP and they could get my attention for a month :) I have done more resting, relaxing and spiritual work in one month, than in the past 2 years! I have counted my blessings and thanked God for the unbelievable family, friends, business associates and opportunities I have in my life! Funny how in the past month, I haven't been able to breathe, but was forced to take a huge "breather"...crazy how that works! ;) You may think I have rambled in this post, but if one thing I shared made you think about life or this craziness of a career we all love so much, then my job is done!

Whew...that was a purge! Gotta save some energy, because I am flying out this week to star in Greg Lamberson's SLIME CITY MASSACRE with Debbie Rochon and Lee Perkins, even if I have to take an oxygen tank with me!!!

Love & Horror,
XO Brooke Lewis

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG June 21, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: As an artist, you go through many experiences, projects and mediums in your career...some memorable and some you want to forget. When I was young and doing theatre in New York, I worked on an Off-Broadway Rock Opera called THE CURE. I originated the role of JEWEL, a drug-addicted, HIV positive teen living on the streets who is introduced to a Vampire Coven that feeds off of the sick and criminal and holds "THE CURE". I don't want to share too much, but what I do want to share is that this was one of the memorable and artistic experiences of my career and it holds a very special place in my heart! From the story to the characters to the music to VAMPIRES!!! :)> I am proud an honored to announce that the show will be revived in NYC and you MUST go support Creator/Composer, Mark Weiser and Director, Elizabeth Lucas! Here's the latest information below:
"A rock n roll graphic novel about two friends who discover the world's last surviving vampires. When offered their own chance to live forever, one friend is seduced while the other barely escapes with his life, setting in motion a fight for survival that threatens to bring down the entire city.

At the crossroads of humanity and immortality, there you find THE CURE."

I am thrilled to announce that my musical, THE CURE, has been invited to be a part of the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) in September/October.
THE CURE is a rock n roll graphic novel come to life exploring the desire to live beyond the boundaries of mortality. The story...A man's search for a reason to live turns into a fight for survival when he falls in love with one of the last surviving vampires. Our characters struggle to find the value of their lives, and how to make that meaning last beyond their own existence. For each of them, as for each of us, the answers are different, but the question is as old as time itself - How do we gain immortality? What is THE CURE?
THE CURE is a darkly compelling story based on one of the most popular subjects of all time - vampires. In the last few years alone, we've seen franchises of TRUE BLOOD, TWILIGHT, BLADE, UNDERWORLD and countless video games, comic books, TV shows and films all surrounding our fascination for the eternally young, beautiful and seductive vampire. Unlike musical theater's previous attempts at tackling the vampire mythology, THE CURE tells an entirely original story, with a modern setting, modern music and a sensibility that melds the visceral impact of live theater, the sounds of rock n roll and the storytelling style of graphic novels. Never has the popularity of vampires been so rampant, and never has a stage show captured the heart of the vampire legend like THE CURE. -Mark Weiser

And, here's a fun one in the NEW YORK POST, if you are a GOODFELLAS fan:
June 12, 2009 --
HENRY Hill, the lovable mobster played by Ray Liotta in "Goodfellas" (1990), has become a pathetic, racist drunk, according to witnesses who saw him recently. Last week, "Crazy" Sal Polisi -- who testified against John Gotti at the Dapper Don's trial in 1986, and went into the witness protection program when Gotti was acquitted -- brought Hill to the Los Angeles set of "The Sinatra Club," the movie Polisi wrote about Gotti's first social club. "It was 10 a.m., and Hill was blitzed. He was pathetic," one cast member told Page Six. "And then he starts dropping the N-bomb. And we have black guys on the crew . . . He was escorted off and out." The picture stars Jason Gedrick as Polisi, Danny Nucci as Gotti, Michael Nouri as Carmine Fatico, Joey Lawrence as the club's "half-assed singer" and Leo Rossi as Paul Castellano.

I was fortunate to spend time with the hilarious Eileen Dietz, Adrienne King, Doug Jones, Don Coscarelli, Reggie Bannister, Gigi Fast Elk Porter, Ken Foree, Charlotte Kemp and many others.

HOLLYWOOD: Tragedy struck Hollywood last Thursday when I got the call from my director, Marc Clebanoff, of BREAK that I acted in with the late and great David Carradine! What a sad and terrible loss of a very talented man! Check out Marc's interview on The Wrap:

June 04, 2009, 8:08PM CDT
Remembering David Carradine
By Marc Clebanoff

When the suggestion was initially made a few years ago to pursue David Carradine for a role in "Break," my first reaction was how appropriate it seemed. After all, who better to cast in a flick laden with killer kung fu than Caine himself?

It was without a doubt one of the best creative decisions I ever made as a director and producer. When you see his performance, I think you’ll agree.

On the first take, David held out his arms to fellow actor Frank Krueger, exclaimed, “Welcome, my friend” and hugged Frank -- just as the screenplay called for.

Following the embrace, however, Carradine ran his fingers through Frank’s hair and pecked him on the cheek. I leaned over to my assistant with a smile and noted, “That was interesting.”

On take two, that peck on the check transformed into a peck on the lips.

Take three was a real kiss.

Take four, however -- that’s what’s in the film. But it wasn’t sexual. It was just the kind of twisted genius that only comes from a truly gifted and amazing actor. One could only imagine what a fifth take might have entailed.

Watching David take an already colorful character and sequence and escalate it to a level that renders audible delight to anyone who has ever screened "Break" is to me what personifies David as a true star.

Nearly a year later -- in May of 2009 -- "Break" had its theatrical release in Los Angeles. I remember being very excited, yet slightly nervous because David was coming to see the film for the first time. One of the proudest moments I can recall in my professional career was standing next to him in a Q&A session following the opening-night screening and hearing him say, “With independent films you never know. I happen to really like this film.”

He looked me straight in the eyes as he said it -- despite the packed theater before him. A far cry from the man who challenged me to a sparring match on my set when he found out I was also a martial artist. But even then it seemed David was always making a point of passing along his knowledge, as if assuming the mentor role wherever he was, be it with a younger actor, a new director or even just a fellow martial artist.

As amazing as the performance that he gave me is, it seems that David’s greatest contributions to the people he worked with came between the lines.

David Carradine will be truly missed. His fans will remember his brightest on-screen moments and characters, but the people lucky enough to work with him will miss the element in David’s character that pushed everyone around him to achieve at a higher level.
