BABBLING BROOKE BLOG February 15, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: At the end of last year, my friend, Marv Blauvelt, introduced me to the work of a very talented, young writer...Trevor Wright. Marv and Trevor gave me the opportunity to read a script they had written together that truly blew me away (a rarity, I promise!)! They have since introduced me to another project they had shot called THE GREEN MONSTER. These are two talented boys that you should watch out for...
Marv had this to say about THE GREEN MONSTER: "I had an AWESOME time shooting my scenes for THE GREEN MONSTER in Boston. All of the cast and crew were incredible.....the film is going to be VERY different and unique (kind of a throw-back to quirky 80's horror films like MOTEL HELL and THE BLOOD DINER) and I am VERY pleased to have been in the cast....and the character I play is unlike any character I have played....(An idiot cop...kind of the comic relief in the film!)...I think horror fans will be very entertained by the unique story of the film!"
Check out the press release and website:
Untold Horror in association with Screamkings.com and THR Productions LTD is pleased to announce completion of principal photography for the feature film THE GREEN MONSTER scheduled for release in 2009.
THE GREEN MONSTER features the return pairing of Edward X. Young (SEA OF DUST) and Colleen Cohan (SEA OF DUST) as husband and wife psychos. THE GREEN MONSTER also features solid performances by Bethany Taylor (FRAT HOUSE MASSACRE), Nathaniel Sylva, Beatrice Strobl, Kachina Dechert, Megan Sacco, Bryan Lombardo, Andrew Cordio, Phoebe French, and a special appearance by Marv Blauvelt (SCULPTURE).
THE GREEN MONSTER was directed by Bryan Roberts and Nolan Ball from a screenplay by Trevor Wright.
Produced by Alex Pucci, Pete Jacelone and Trevor Wright.
Special Make-up and Effects by David S. Szehi Edward X Young Nikki Coleman
Associate Producer: Megan Sacco
THE GREEN MONSTER was shot in 16:9 24p
THE GREEN MONSTER is a return to 80’s style slashers in the vein of MOTEL HELL and BLOOD DINER. It tells the story of Gerald (Edward X. Young) and Molly (Colleen Cohan), husband and wife owners of a downtrodden convenience store who employ equal parts dark magic and down home cooking to attract the reckless teenagers who like to use their business as a haven for illegal activities.
When some local teens go missing, all signs point to the couple’s uniquely Southern recipes and the dumpster out back overflowing with dead bodies!
A campy horror flick that goes to show if the food don’t kill you...THE GREEN MONSTER will!

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG February 8, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: As you can imagine, I receive a ton of horror emails and press releases to my production company, Philly Chick Pictures http://www.phillychickpictures.com/
I am truly committed to supporting all of my friends and fans in the horror community! This week I received a press release about my dear friend/business associate, Hart D. Fisher. Please take a moment to read it below and I hope you will be as inspired as I was! I feel it is very representative of a lot of us horror artists who are committed to fighting for creative FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION! Enjoy...
"CONTROVERSIAL 1ST AMENDMENT WARRIOR, HART D. FISHER, JOINS LEADING TRUE CRIME SITE, IN COLD BLOG on FEB. 9TH
LOS ANGELES, CA — In Cold Blog (ICB), founded by Los Angeles Times and Borders International best selling author Corey Mitchell, is the Internet’s leading true crime blog. With several contributing writers that cover the gamut from Pulitzer Prize nominees, award winning journalists and authors, criminal justice and medical professionals, victim’s rights advocates and even family members of the victim of a serial killer, In Cold Blog has been providing a unique voice to issues involving crime and justice since June 2007.
When In Cold Blog’s editor, Michelle McKee, went looking for someone to represent the voice of America’s freedom of speech, censorship, morality gone wrong, exploitation, and the removal of one’s Constitutional guarantee of freedom, she looked no further than the notorious publisher of Boneyard Press, Hart D. Fisher.
Fisher’s opinions on serial killers and serial killer culture have been sought by numerous television producers for programs such as ABC's DayOne, CNN's Murder By Numbers, Entertainment Tonight, Larry King Live, The Jerry Springer Show, CNN Headline News, A&E's Biography, and in magazines such as Time, Tattoo Savage, Hero Illustrated, People, The Comics Journal, and the non-fiction best seller The A-Z Guide to Serial Killers, to name only a few.
An individual who takes his work to the extreme, Fisher pushes the envelope on the boundaries of freedom of expression beyond that which many are comfortable with. His work has been banned and pulled from shelves and his books have been destroyed by the distribution house itself.
With credits dotting his portfolio that include the production of indie horror films, the creation of serial killer comic books, the production of pornography, horror porn to be specific, as well as critically acclaimed poetry, Hart D. Fisher has been called one of the "100 Most Important People In The Comics Industry" by Hero Illustrated. He has also been one of the most universally despised individuals to have ever set foot in adult theme comics, let alone within in the crime genre itself. As the controversial publisher behind Boneyard Press, Fisher created Jeffrey Dahmer: An Unauthorized Biography of a Serial Killer, A comic book that started a firestorm which brought death threats, stalkers, lawsuits, protest marches, including a threatened KKK protest march on his home in Illinois, a SWAT team to his door, and a request by the local police to leave town. __As managing editor of Glenn Danzig’s publishing company Verotik, Fisher created a comic book murder story, Verotika #4, “A Taste of Cherry,” that was considered to be so offensive and obscene it shut down Planet Comics in Oklahoma City in the early 90’s and the work was banned. It is still banned in that state today.
Even OJ Simpson has sued Fisher for his satirical portrayal in Boneyard Press’ comic book creations.__Hart Fisher produces the type of material that members of the morality police generally object to. His work is considered by some to be vile and offensive, and it is exactly the type of unpopular speech that is at the forefront of assaults by the so called moral majority against our Constitutional liberties. It is the type of material that is typically blamed for various public ills and criminal activity; after all, we've all heard what the Uptight Ninny Brigade has to say about sex crimes, metal music and video games.
Fisher couldn't be a more appropriate voice representing freedom of expression, and the shredding of the Untied States Constitution. Hart D. Fisher has fought for his right as an American citizen to exercise his freedom of speech – and he has lost.

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG February 1, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: I have been "in talks" for some time to work on a new project from the multi-talented writer, director, producer, Greg Lamberson (SLIME CITY, NAKED FEAR). Well, I must admit, I finally took time to chill for a minute and watch the SLIME CITY dvd that I rented months ago! OMG!!! LOVED it! It was better than I ever imagined...smart, well-directed, great subtext in this film! If you are in the mood for a fun horror flick from 1988, I highly recommend checking it out:
"A student moves into a run-down building in New York City. His bizarre neighbors make a concoction in their apartment they call wine, but when he takes some of it, he turns into a deformed, murderous monster."
Greg is a true artist and I cannot wait to work with him!

Also, on the horror front, I am super excited to announce that I and iMURDERS have been invited to the new, unique, "horrific" PARANOIA Horror Film Festival on the haunted Queen Mary from March 13-15, 2009! This is a festival like no other with activities, ghost tours, red carpet events, parties, bars and restaurants and we will all be "rockin' the boat" all weekend long!!! :) Shane Russeck and the PARANOIA crew have shared the "goods" with me and appear to be bringing a bit of "Horror & Hollywood" down to Long Beach for the weekend...my kinda cruise!!! :) I will surely keep you readers posted about the iMURDERS screening and which cast and crew members will be coming down to represent with me. For more information and tickets, check out:

HOLLYWOOD: Speaking of "representing"...I want to support, promote and share another amazing event with you! My dear friend and convention booking agent, Derek Maki of Coolwaters Productions sent me an email from one of his other clients, the brilliant Jeffrey Tambor (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, HELLBOY). Tickets are selling fast for Jeffrey's "Performing Your Life" Workshop! Please check out the email Derek sent below:
"If you are in the entertainment industry, whether you be an actor, director, writer… ANY type of artist YOU MUST ATTEND THIS SEMINAR!!!

Jeffrey Tambor’s “Performing Your Life”

Some of you have listened to me rave about how intense Jeffrey’s class is. This is a MUST for anyone. EVEN if you have been in the business for years…. You’ll learn so much and walk away a better industry professional!!!!
I implore each and every one of you to explore the official web site and seriously consider attending this very unique event.
www.jeffreytambor.net
Check it out, purchase your tickets today!!!"

HIGH DRAMA: Nothing that exciting this week...just working around the clock and still mourning the loss of my EAGLES for the Super Bowl...YUK! I have a few very cool projects in the works, but can't blog about them just yet ;) Went to dinner and a band gig Friday night with Courtney Gains...had a blast, as usual. The biggest drama was when my girlfriend, Laura, and I saw REVOLUTIONARY ROAD last night and cried our eyes out! We both decided after the flick that we are never getting married...F%*# that!!! We would rather be single and miserable than married and miserable! Hee...:)

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG January 25, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: As you all know, the HOT HUNKS Calendar signing was last weekend and we were fortunate to have a lot of the hunks on hand in La La Land. I was lucky to finally meet some of these amazing men in person, after much communication via phone and email, as they flew in from all over the country! I had a chance to connect with one actor/director, in particular, over margaritas...the incredible Anthony Brownrigg! Anthony gave me a copy of his feature, RED VICTORIA, before he left...WOW and WOW! He proved to be a true "Texas" talent across the board! I thought his direction was impeccable! This was one of the most professionally done super low budget "horror" indies I have seen in a long time...adorable, fun, funny, painful and sharply executed. I must admit I was not familiar with Arianne Martin' s work and was very impressed...one talented lady! Anthony, thank you for sharing your talent and I hope I have the opportunity to work with you in the future! Horror peeps...this is a MUST see!
http://redvictoriathemovie.com/

HOLLYWOOD: Okay, as a proud member of Women In Film here in Los Angeles, I just have to take a moment to acknowledge a fabulous new event that this organization of powerful women has created...I cannot tell you how excited I am to attend! :)
"WOMEN IN FILM FRIDAY NIGHT SALON: The WIF Friday Night Salon is a place for women to come and hang out after a long, hard day at work. Come and wait for the traffic to die down while you get pampered before heading home for the weekend! Enjoy Facials, Foot Massages, Manicures, Wine Tastings, a bite to eat...all while networking with fellow members."
Need I say more? :) What a wonderful way to start the weekend...wine and manis with hardworking women who deserve it!
http://www.wif.org/

HIGH DRAMA: Gotta rave about a rockin' Friday night at the Brixton with my dear friend and horror icon, Courtney Gains (CHILDREN OF THE CORN)! My multi-talented buddy brought the house down with his band RIPPLE STREET! Check them out:
"RIPPLE STREET was formed in 2008 by horror icon actor COURTNEY GAINS who wanted to try his hand at a rock trio. "After years of playing acoustic gigs I wanted to put a band together and hold down the electric guitar and vocals. " RIPPLE STREET has been playing shows all over Orange County, Long Beach, and San Diego. On JANUARY 23rd, RIPPLE STREET opened for 80's new wave band MISSING PERSONS at THE BRIXTON in Redondo Beach, CA." And, I was there with the wild & sexy Jeff Dylan Graham (PSYCHSOMATIKA) to experience it! I will totally post all you horror fans on Courtney's future gigs and you know I will be there rockin' out!!!

Love & Horror,
XO Brooke Lewis

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG January 18, 2009

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: The HOT HUNKS OF HORROR Calendar 2009 signing at DARK DELICACIES was a smashing success!!! A special thanks goes out to Del & Sue for hosting our charity event. Many thanks also goes out to Chris Hannan from SCARS for his video, Hart, Waka, Joe Hollow and Feo Amante from AMERICAN HORRORS for their hard work shooting hours of event footage and my favorite photographer, Roger A. Scheck. And, to our hunks who flew in from all over the country, friends, guests and fans who came out to support, we are blessed to have you in our lives! Last, but not least, thank you to the courageous and stunning breast cancer survivor, Tommi Traeumer...we do this for women like YOU!!!
Happy Birthday goes out to the fabulous Alan Rowe Kelly!!! :)

HOLLYWOOD: I wanted to share my private screening of BITTER/SWEET with you! My dear Philly friend and uber talented director, Jeff Hare returned from Thailand and was cool enough to show me a cut of his newest feature. The best way to describe this romance and comedy is sweeeeeeet!!! ;) I really really enjoyed it, thought Jeff's direction was superb and give major props to the acting performances of Kip Pardue and Spencer Garrett. The following is a brief synopsis:
"American businessman Brian Chandler has a perfect life with a great job and beautiful fiancée. When his boss, renegade coffee mogul Calvert Jenkins sends him to Thailand to inspect a crop for purchase, Brian meets Ticha, a beautiful Bangkok executive who has long-since given up on the prospects of finding love. At the urging of her old village and her coffee farmer parents, Ticha brings Brian to the coffee fields of Southern Krabi, with the hopes that Brian will purchase coffee there. The only problem with this plan is that Brian and Ticha absolutely can not stand to be around each other. As they go from the cosmopolitan bustle of Bangkok to the pristine, white sands beaches of Krabi, their relationship becomes more than just a coffee deal."
I would definitely recommend lookin' out for this "sweetheart" of a film!

HIGH DRAMA: Okay, so I gotta shout out this story...It shows, once again, why I love cool, powerful women in this business! A few months ago, I ordered a T-shirt from a female oriented horror site that I am very fond of...CADAVERGIRLS. I hadn't received it and wondered where it disappeared to! :) I received a big box last week and found my new t-shirt. To my pleasant surprise, my shirt was surrounded by a bunch of other CadaverGirls goodies...a second t-shirt, buttons, cards, etc...WHAT??? :) Okay, so my order arrived a bit late, but how cool are these horror chicks for stepping up and going above and beyond to make up for the late delivery??? My kinda girls, huh? I shot over an email to thank the coolest Cadaver Girls, Lady D-Kay & Adrenalyn, for their generosity and professionalism...their action showed me that they "take care of their business"! CADAVERGIRLS, you definitely have a loyal fan in me and I look forward to doing business with you in the future! Plus, I sooo love my shirt that says, "We put the "Gore" in Gorgeous...". Thank you, Amy & Kay!

HOLLYWOOD: Okay, gotta give props to some crew peeps of mine who worked on THE WRESTLER! I went to see it last week and it was freakin' tight!!! Now, that was one indie film that had a lotta heart! HIGH DRAMA: I am proud to spread the word that my best friend and world-renowned PSYCHIC MEDIUM, MARILYN PAPA, has launched her company MOONRIDGE SPIRIT! She is a loving soul who will share her spirit with you. The following quote will explain the nature of her work:

"A medium communicates with Spirit. Receptive to the vibrations of the spirit world, she is able to use her guides to connect with yours; often providing an opportunity for interaction with loved ones who have passed. Readings tend to resonate on a much deeper level. Information comes in a nurturing, loving fashion because mediums are channeling Spirit and Spirit always comes from love.
The information is inspirational, sometimes karmic, often life altering. Combining these two modalities, a psychic medium can be a powerful tool to help you remove obstructions in your path and to understand where you are headed.
A reading with me can help you uncover blocks, heal old wounds and discover new doors that need to be opened. I will confirm what is working in your life, highlight paths you may need to consider and challenges you need to overcome.
This work is about integrity for me and I hold it in the highest regard. I am so grateful that I have discovered how to work with Spirit and that I am able to extend these practices to help others. My goal is to see my clients succeed, living happy, fulfilling lives."
For more information or to schedule a reading, please check out her website: http://moonridgespirit.com/
If you mention you were referred by the BABBLING BROOKE BLOG, you will receive a 10% discount (I got the hook up! ;).

BABBLING BROOKE BLOG 2009!!! :)

Sexy SCARS Readers:

Happy New Year and welcome back to my BABBLING BROOKE BLOG! As promised, you will get a little HORROR...a little HOLLYWOOD...a little HIGH DRAMA! :)

HORROR: I want to start off the new year with an update on Dan Walton's BIND! Things are "lookin' good" and moving forward in pre-production for this low budget horror feature. You all know I am playing Joan and, speaking of "lookin' good", I am excited to have the adorable and talented Raine Brown cast in the role of Summer. Raine will be joining me and the stunning Christa Campbell, who has been cast as Cherry...yeah, guys...it is true!!! ;)
Get out your calendars for another special horror treat! Gotta give props to my boys, so I am listing the press release below...
FISHER & SCHECK TALK REAL LIFE HORROR TALES WITH PARRISH RANDALL AT HORRORMOVIEFANS.COM INDIE HORROR RADIO!
TUNE IN SUNDAY, JANUARY 4TH 2009 (7:05PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME) AT: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hmfradio
Ring in the new year with brutal tales of real life horror as lived by horror legend, Hart D. Fisher, and told on a sordid night of talk radio as Parrish Randall turns up the juice on HorrorMovieFans.com Indie Horror Radio! Join Parrish and his guests indy sleaze meister Keith J. Crocker (Blitzkrieg: Escape from Stalag 69 and The Bloody Ape), rising horror star Roger Scheck (Nobody Loves Alice), and the scariest man in America and new horror show host Hart D. Fisher (American Horrors, Poems for the Dead, The Garbage Man) where they will discuss their current projects and Mr. Fisher and Mr. Scheck discuss the shocking story behind their current documentary project in which all of the darkest corners of Mr. Fisher’s life are explored with all new interviews and never before seen personal footage.
When Roger Scheck began looking for his next feature film project, after his searing directorial debut (Nobody Loves Alice), he was brought to a dead stop upon meeting the controversial publisher turned filmmaker. For the first time ever, Hart Fisher opens up about subjects that still bear scars as fresh as when they first formed. The murder of his first love & live in girlfriend during filming of his debut feature film, The Garbage Man; the legal battles fought over the publication of his Jeffrey Dahmer comics; the events which led to a threatened KKK protest march on his home in Illinois; what brought him out to Los Angeles and eventually led to him running the show at rock superstar Glenn Danzig's Verotik in 1995 and the creation of the most controversial comic book in 50 years (Verotika 4's "A Taste of Cherry"), the shut down of Planet Comics in Oklahoma City, the true story behind Hart D. Fisher's "Death" in a 1998 April Fools Day prank gone wrong, discovering a young Gerard (My Chemical Romance Frontman) Way and taking the young artist (at the tender age of 15) under his wing, the decade long legal battle to keep the murderer of his first love in prison. If Fisher hid many of the experiences in his life, which at the time turned him into an insane burned out shell of man, those secrets wounds are laid bare in this shocking new documentary project helmed by Roger Scheck.
Real life horror fans are not going to want to miss out on the first time Mr. Fisher speaks about subjects that nearly killed him, let alone been discussed in public. Tune in for what an amazing story for the new year.

HIGH DRAMA: Drama follows me EVERYWHERE...or, at least, to Philly! :) Okay, so I'm at LAX waiting at the insanely crowded airport to go to Philly for the holidays. A seat just happens to open up next to me and who sits down...director Rachel Goldberg! We don't know each other, so I am minding my biz reading a script, our flight's delayed and we start yapping! It turns out we are both friends with Denise Gossett, actress and Shriekfest owner! We laughed, exchanged cards and Rachel suggested I read her drama/fantasy feature, I CAN'T HEAR YOUR NAME, which she will direct. Really intense and well-written story...I would say look out for this talented lady in the new year!
Now, an extra special Philly treat was our Cohen/Spector Family holiday dinner! Ladies (and, JERSEY Boys), I got to sit next to our multi-talented Broadway star cousin, Jarrod Spector, who plays Frankie Valli in the famous Broadway musical JERSEY BOYS! Belasco, don't be jealous! ;) All I have to say is, "Oh what a night"...

May all your DREAMS & NIGHTMARES come true in 2009!!! :)
Love & Horror,
XO Brooke Lewis
